Woman hacked by sharp weapon by uncle in Malda over family dispute

A horrifying incident took place on Saturday night in Kamalpur village of Ratua police station area in Malda district where a 30-year-old woman, Sumita Mosar, was critically injured by her uncle in a brutal attack. The uncle, Kaka Sairu Mosar, was accused of trying to kill her by hacking her with a weapon called "hasua".

The reason behind this horrific act is a dispute within the family. According to local and police sources, the uncle had come to the family's house in a drunken state and started abusing them. When Sumita protested, he attacked her with a knife. The uncle fled the scene after the attack.

Sumita was quickly rescued and brought to Malda Medical College Hospital for treatment. Sumita is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital and is in critical condition. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and a written complaint has been filed against the accused at the Ratua police station.
